Jokpo

In Korea, there is a national book of family history called "Jokpo." All of my students knew their family history from this book. Below are some of the descriptions I received.

Jennifer: My old ancestor is Kang Gam Chan, Kan i-sik. He was a general and he won the salsudaechop.

Viera: My family name is .... It was started at..... The first ancestor is son-in-law of the king in unified Silla. The most famous ancestor is...

Kevin Ryu Da Bin: 1. My old ancestor is Ryu Seong Leong, an old scientist. He developed many weapons for Korea, so the Korean government gave him a prize. 2. Ryu Gwan Sun.

Julia Kim Hyang Mi: King Kim Soo Ro and Kim Hong Do, who was a painter in Joseon times.

Kellen: King Kim Soo Ro and Queen Heo Hwang Ok, who was a princess from India

Annie: My family name is Gim Hae. My first ancestor is Kim Yu Sin. He wqas a famous soldier in Korea.

Jung Hee Joo: My family's last name is Jung. Our family comes from....The root of our ancestor is Naju.

Chloe: My name is Keunha Park. My family name, Park, is from Milyang. There is a fable related to my family name, but I don't have any information about family history.

Han Nari Bella: Chungju Han   origin Han Ran -- doesn't know about Jokpo history

Marinda: Family name is Lee. The place of origin is Zindo near Gong Ju.

Min Ji Hye: My family name is Min. The place of origin is Yeoju. The progenitor is Min Jin Do.

Jeung Eun Jeong: Family name Jin-joo Jeong, this family resided for generations in JinJoo

Lee 201210062: My first ancestor Lee Won Gye in Joseon dynasty. He is the brother of Lee Seong Gye, who founded the Joseon nation. I am his 26th descendant. He fought against Japan with Lee Seong Gye, but he disagreed with his plan about founding a antion.

Han Soo Min. My family name is Han. Cheong-ju is the region where my family started.

Yun See Won:My family name is Yun. A long time ago in the Joseon dynasty, our family was famous because many queens came from our family.

Park Hyeon Ji

Hi, i'm Park Hyeon Jee. 

 This attached picture is relatives on my mother’s side. We took a picture in front of Dongnimmun in Seoul.

 The baby who sits in a stroller on the very left is me. I was 3-year-old. (maybe) And the man who holds stroller is my father. He married the beautiful woman who holds a boy in the middle of picture. She is my mother and she has bob hair.

 Look at the right side of my mom and search people wearing flower pattern shirt. They are my grand parents! :) They are farmers in Geumsan which is famous by ginseng and they have 2sons and 3daughters. They have many grandkids as you see. They arrive now and very healthy. I heard my grandparents were poor when they raised children. Although everyone did that then I am proud of them because of the rearing of children. They are very brave and strong. :D I think that picture took in 1995 or 1996.

The baby that sit another stroller is my uncle's son and my one year younger brother. I think he is 1year old. So this picture took in 1995. :)

Lee Yun Hui

This is the picture when my mother young. My grandmother is wearing the black top and black pants. And she is standing between her husband and her sister. My mother is standing with her brothers. She had 8 brothers and sisters. This is in front of garden on their house in Gong-ju near Dae-jeon. And i heard that i resemble my grandmother. I think so. Lee Yun Hui
